Office of the Staff Judge Advocate (OSJA)

MISSION:

 

Provide DLIFLC and USAG POM commanders and their staffs with accurate, proactive legal advice on all issues impacting DLIFLC’s mission of supporting DoD foreign language requirements worldwide and USAG POM’s mission of providing professional base support services, while delivering quality legal services to service members, retirees, and their family members.

VISION:

 

To provide timely and accurate legal guidance and support on the full range of issues affecting the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center and the Presidio of Monterey and the well-being of its people.

 

 

Legal Assistance Office

The Legal Assistance Office (LAO) assists active duty personnel and retirees of all services and their family members with their personal legal affairs. Free help is available for nonmilitary matters such as:

  • writing wills
  • understanding rental contracts
  • dealing with creditors
  • preparing and filing income tax returns
  • counseling on divorce
  • advising on civil suits
  • preparing powers of attorney
  • performing notarizations

 

Directions:
Building 275 is bounded by Plummer and Fitch Streets and is next to Soldiers Field near the flagpole. We have three (3) reserved parking spaces for legal assistance clients on Plummer Street directly in front of our building.
