Colonel Greg Ford is currently the garrison commander for the Presidio of Monterey.

His previous assignment was as the G2 Chief of Operations for 8th U.S. Army in the Republic of Korea since June 2016. Prior to that, Col. Ford was a U.S. Army War College Fellow at the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies in Honolulu from 2015 to 2016.

Beginning in June 2010, Ford served in Hawaii as the U.S. Army Pacific G2 Operations Chief, then as the 25th Infantry Division G2 for two

years. Between those assignments, he deployed to Afghanistan as the Deputy J2 for Special Operations Joint Task Force from 2014 to 2015.

Upon completing the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in December 2007, Ford reported to Joint Base Lewis McChord in Washington and I Corps to become the Analysis Control Element Chief. He held this position for three years, including an Iraq deployment from 2008-2009.

Prior to attending the Command and General Staff College, Ford served as the S2 in 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), deploying to Iraq during 2005-2006. From 2004-2005, he was the Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General of the Intelligence and Security Command. Ford held a variety of assignments in the 101st Airborne as a Captain: S2 for the 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, where he deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom from 2001-2002; then becoming the Divisionís Collection Manager for a year before commanding Company C, 311th Military Intelligence Battalion, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom 2003-2004.

Commissioned a Military Intelligence Second Lieutenant through ROTC, Ford earned his bachelors degree from Western Oregon University in 1996. His first assignment was as an Assistant S2 with 1st Battalion, 72nd Armor Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, in the Republic of Korea. Following that assignment, Ford arrived at Fort Lewis, Washington, and served with the 2nd IDís 3rd Brigade as the Assistant Brigade S2. He then moved to 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, serving as a Platoon Leader and MI Company Executive Officer.

Among Col. Fordís decorations are the Combat Action Badge, Basic Parachutistís Badge, and the Air Assault Badge. His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Army Achievement Medal. Ford has a Masters Degree in Organizational Security from Webster University. He is married to the former Rebecca Bray, an employee of the Walt Disney Corporation.
